Flying Into Queenstown
Many parts of the world are beautiful and that is one of the major inspirations for us to step away from the comfort of our home to explore new and exciting places. My love of travel has always been balanced well and truly against my fear of flying. Initially I restricted myself to local flights between London and Europe. Always met with trepidation, a travel day was something to get out of the way before being able to enjoy myself. It wasn’t long before I grew tired of these ‘local’ spots and wanted to venture further.
Over the years I have been fortunate to visit a lot of interesting places near and far. However, the last few years a passion for snowboarding has taken me further than i’d previously considered possible. When planning this summers trip to New Zealand, I’d seen on Instagram posts that flying into Queenstown was incredible and I made sure that this would be my port of entry. The whole journey I focussed on being ready to see New Zealand from the sky and it did not disappoint. I arrived in New Zealand on a clear day and after what seemed like a quick tourist loop over the Remarkables mountain range we made our descent into certainly the most picturesque airport I had ever visited.
From a winter sports perspective flying over the mountains really gives me a sense of excitement about what to expect. I will be sharing the latest from this trip in a series of posts looking into what you can expect should you choose to head to the South Island for your next ski or snowboard adventure.
